I just bought a hand mitt for exfoliating skin. Do I just use it with bar soap on my face?

you canI just bought a hand mitt for exfoliating skin. Do I just use it with bar soap on my face?
noo! You should never use bar soap on your face, the skin on the face is very delicate! You should use the mitt on your body only, I use mine on my legs mostly. To exfoliate your face, you're going to need to buy an exfoliating wash. Bar soap is harsh for the face!

good luck! =]I just bought a hand mitt for exfoliating skin. Do I just use it with bar soap on my face?
I wouldn't use a hand mitt on your face. It could be too rough and irritate your skin. Use it with soap for your body. You should use an facial exfoliating scrub on your face/neck.
Or with propper exfoliating lotion also which you can buy in any chemist.
I'm not expert but that sounds like it would severely dry out the skin on your face leading to more breakouts and blemishes. Try a facial cleanser with moisturizers. The mitt you bought will be useful for the rest of your body though so don't feel like you wasted your money!

You should wash your face daily, follow the instructions on the exfoliation product as far as frequency of use goes. Some are probably gentle enough to use daily.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO鈥?br>

NO.

do not use bar soap on your face, especially if you just bought a glove (thihs indicates you need the darn gllove, which inturn means poorskin) the worst thing you can do when u have bad skin is use bar soap, get vichy green goop face cleanser, shoppers drug mart or any drug store like that would carry it. its ot a scrub which i think is good since u dont need a scrubing bead incorperated cleanser(u got the glove, and thats enough facial ruff n tuff) lol hope that helps dude
i would use a face cleaner, bar soap is too rough on skin, you can exfoliate as often as you want too
It's best to use it with an exfoliating scrub. Basically, anything that has little bits of things mixed in with it that will rub off dead skin. If you have dry skin, exfoliate once every 4-5 days. If you have oily skin, as much as twice a week.
No, use exfoliating lotion
use facial cleaner

or face wash

i've been leaving the lid off to let some of the water evaoprate, but its not workingI had some liquid hand soap that was to thick, so i added water and that made it too thin what do i do now?
Buy new soap. Or mix more of another soap in there to thicken it up.I had some liquid hand soap that was to thick, so i added water and that made it too thin what do i do now?

Go back to the Dollar Store and buy a new bottle.
it's okay. leaving it runny and soppy is good because it's fresher to handle. just leave it.
add cornstarch to the soap. It will thicken it up. You can do this for hair color and lotion as well.

I hand wash my drinking glasses and they seem to have a soapy residue left on them from my dish soap?

How do I get this residue off? (I'm using Method dish soap.) Is there a dish soap that won't cause this residue?I hand wash my drinking glasses and they seem to have a soapy residue left on them from my dish soap?
I use Dawn also, its a De-Greaser. But if that doesn't work on your glasses, and it doesn't work on all of mine either. You can use vinegar. I know it sounds gross, but after you wash the glass, just dunk it in a 2 part vinegar 1 part water mixture. The residue should come right off. If that doesn't work then you probably have hard water, and as much as you rinse it still wont get rid of the soap because of your hard water problem. -Good Luck-I hand wash my drinking glasses and they seem to have a soapy residue left on them from my dish soap?
I use Dawn with no residue noticed
I would go and get some Dawn dish soap. Some times trying different dish soaps isn't all that grate. Dawn cuts any grease.

duh i mean think about it you unconsciously wash your hands when u take a shower u kno....
yes, but that's defeating the purpose.
Actually, yes you can use it as a normal hand soap, just be careful not to use a whole lot. but yes it should be just fine to do that, ive dont it before and it has the same effect as regular soap would.
yes as there is no arm in it ha ha
if your hands are part of your body of course you can..but if there not then your in trouble
    whyever not?
    if you want, go ahead.
yeah!! its BODY WASH so yeah of course you could and a bonus would be your hands get to smell great.:)
Yah nobody well notice the difference as long as it's in a different bottle
Yes, by all means, you can.
Sure. Why not? It all does the same thing...clean.
yes, if you like the smell, it will be like aroma therapy, every time your hands are near your face.
it basically is soap- just designed for more sensitive parts of your body, not just your hands. so yeah it would be fine =)
    Of course !!! lol
Hands are part of your body, I don't see why not : )
    yes
WELL UR HAND IS CONSIDED UR BODY!! SO TECHICALLY ITS UR BODY!!

I like this question because it's so dammed innocent. YES!
Yes; although you may not want your hands to smell as good, just clean, because your nose knows the difference.
    Sure why not?

Can I use hand soap as body wash? And as shampoo?

Can I wash my body with hand soap? Is it all the same? Can I wash my hair with hand soap, or body wash? And can I wash my face with hand soap or body wash? Will I be ruining my skin??Can I use hand soap as body wash? And as shampoo?
You can wash any part of you with hand soap.

All soap cleans just specific things for example shampoo, have other ingredients in it to do things to your hair like give body and de-frizz.

Any cleaning product you use on your body can be used elsewhere and won't damage your skin or hair.

Using soap as shampoo will probably dry your hair out but there really isn't any harm in using it, your hair won't fall out because its dry.

As for using body wash for your hair, I have done this many times before and there hasn't been a problem, only that it dries out your hair same as soap.

ADD: I use hand soap to wash my face and I find that it helps clear spots. Can I use hand soap as body wash? And as shampoo?
never to that to your face or hair you need a special shampoo /body wash.

a hand wash only washes away dirty/ germs. you need a hair shampoo to wash away dirty %26amp;grime but at same time nourish you hair with

vitamins and hair shampoo does that to your hair so that's why you need

a hair specially for your hair.also you really need a body wash it also has

vitamins %26amp; conditioner to soften your skin so that way you skin looks

more healthy less dry don't ever use a hand soap as a shampoo or body wash.I suggest to used dove cucumber body wash %26amp; dove shampoo for you hair. never use a hand soap as face cleanser it would

ruinig your skin making it dry flaky.
I had so many skin, scalp and hair problems (severe dry flaking skin, many pimples, breakouts, large pores and, flaking, itching scalp and even hair loss) as a result of most facial cleansers, body cleansers and shampoos that I learned have some of the most scalp, hair and skin harming chemicals - some are so toxic. So I switched to buying a pure bar or tablet soap with no additives, no colorings, no perfumes of any kind for washing skin, face and hair and immediately all my conditions started healing and now have returned to total health. Look at the countless harmful ingredients in MOST hand soaps, body washes and shampoos. You can do online searches and confirm how severely harmful and toxic they are.

Yes, you can use hand soap (or bar soap, I guess) as body wash. Lots of people do. You'll be fine. I'm not sure if you can wash your hair with hand soap. Definitely don't wash it with body wash, though. You can probably use hand soap for your face. I would avoid using body wash because excessive use could cause zits, from what I've heard.
okay, there shouldn't be a problem with washing your body with hand soap... it's the same kinda skin... but I wouldn't reccomend washing your hair with body wash or hand soap, because it will dry it out. Trust me, I've tried.
    not as shampoo.....

if you get the philosopy line of products you can, but not just any regular soap.

My hand soap smells after putting it in a pump, what the heck?

hey you guys usually I'm the one doing the answering lol but this time I could use some tips. My liquid hand soap tends to start smelling after putting it in my kids decorative hand pump. We have an ';ocean'; theme in our bath and the hand pump for the soap is a glass octopus, or I should say ceramic. Every time I put soap in it, it starts to stink! I've smelled the soaps in the containers before pouring it in the octopus and it smells so great then after its poured into the ceramic octopus in a few days it starts to stink like a strong chemical odor. Like something in a paint shop or body shop. What's the deal you guys?My hand soap smells after putting it in a pump, what the heck?
First, look on the bottom of your decorative hand pump, and see where it was made. Maybe it was made with a chemical that reacts with the soap. Could even be lead. Second, do you rinse it out every time, before refilling? If not, do that, rinse in hot water and pump hot water through the pump, until it pumps clean. It could be that the old soap is smelling after it sits in the pump for awhile. I know if you let it sit for long periods of time, without using it, like pushing it to the back of your cabinet and forgetting it is there, it takes on a terrible smell. Hope one of these helps you.My hand soap smells after putting it in a pump, what the heck?
Believe it or not soap has a shelf life and it sounds like the soap that was left in the container went rancid. Clean the pump, plastic tube and container with dish washing liquid and rinse with some white vinegar and then water.
Could be a chemical reaction caused by the soap and something on the ceramic.

try buying a new glass soap dispenser and see if that helps.

Is one of the side effects repetition?
I, too, am looking for sls free products. At Whole Foods Market, they carry Burt's Bee's shampoo bars that use vegetable oil as soap instead of sls. There is also a line of shampoos and conditioners called Aubrey that are sls free. There actually are quite a few sls free shampoos at Whole Foods Market, some quite inexpensive.

SLS is used in shampoos as a lathering agent, but many feel that it is simply too drying for a person's hair, especially African American hair. The stuff is used in engine degreasers and dish-washing liquid! Whether a person's hair and scalp needs such a heavy duty cleaning agent is debatable. Some may need it, but if your hair is dry, like mine, it may be best to find other alternatives.

Does bar soap or liquid hand soap go bad? Why? Thanks?

Why? Did it taste different the last time you ate some?

How long will the soap last?

I was wondering how long my home made soap will last? I make soaps with milk and oats, and sometimes fruit and veggie juice. I was reading some soap pages on the net and it said that a lot of veggie made soaps (olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, etc) don't last as long (a few weeks or so). I wanted to make some soaps as gifts for the family and I want them to be able to last at least a year or more, how would I accomplish this???

You're talking about how long they will stay good in storage? At first I thought you meant in use... but I think you mean how long before they might go bad when stored. If you are making gifts, I would not make them way in advance because the fragrances will fade over time. It's better to time your soapmaking so that the soap is well cured but not old when you give it if possible... maybe make it two months in advance of giving it (you could do six weeks, I'm just tossing out a number there). If you want soap that will keep longer in storage, the following will help that to happen:

Don't go overboard with lye discounting/superfatting... Personally, I would not go higher than 5% lye discount. Accurate measuring is important here.

Don't fill your soap with too many unsaponifiable ingredients... like plant or vegetable fiber, fruits, etc. Those can go bad in storage and sometimes even mold if the chunks are very large. Small bits of dried herb should be okay if you don't overload the soap with it.

It would appear that you should avoid superfatting at trace. If fats added then don't get well blended before the soap is poured, they may be more inclined to go bad during storage. I prefer to put all my oils in at the beginning and only add fragrances and additives (like color, herbs) if needed at the end.

Don't store your soaps in airtight conditions. A semi-closed environment that gets a bit of air is good. That way they will be less inclined to sweat in storage but won't lose so much fragrance as they can if given total open air. I would not wrap them until it is close to the time you are going to give them as gifts. They continue to lose moisture for a long time and will keep shrinking (less and less but enough for labels to loosen, for example).

Soap that was made with no lye discount (and we are assuming is still balanced and not lye heavy) will keep for a LONG time without any rancidity. It might lose its smell over time and get hard as a rock, but will still be good soap. Whenever you add extra fat for mildness, you are lessening the longevity of your bars. If you plan to use them in short order, this is not a problem and most people use their soap within a year or two. I've heard of boxed up soap being found in old houses and still being good after who knows how long! Amazing.

Good luck! I hope this helps!

...It's possible that thing you read was in reference to how long the soap lasts when being used. Some all vegetable soaps will soften and melt down quicker in the dish than soaps made with beef tallow, for instance. Palm oil helps all-vegetable soaps to be hard and longer lasting. That in addition to coconut are good to blend with a conditioning oil such as olive.Does bar soap or liquid hand soap go bad? Why? Thanks?

Does bar soap or liquid hand soap go bad? Why? Thanks?
i don't think that it does
if u dont put a cover on it or change it every now and than it will collect bacteria that is very bad for ur skin and others
Only after a few millenia. The glycerine and fats in modern soaps does not go rancid because of the manufacturing process involving chemical stabilizers. The polymer chains are mostly carbon based, so its halflife would be a VERY, VERY long time.

Which is better hand sanitizer or soap and water?

sanitizer i good once in a while

you don't want to use it all the time b/c, notice how it only kills 99.9(9)% of germs, well the other .01% are strong, harsh germs that the sanitizer isent strong enough to kill, and they still continue to multiply, so as result, you have the srtong, harsh germs multiplying, instead of the other weaker germs.Which is better hand sanitizer or soap and water?
in my opinion santinizerWhich is better hand sanitizer or soap and water?
Sanitizer is good if you're just killing germs, but it doesn't do a thing as far as removing dirt. I tend to agree with what a lot of doctors say; it's best to wash your hands with warm water and soap, scrubbing your hands for at least 30 seconds before rinsing.

Yeah, when I run out of shampoo I use bar soap.
A few times I`ve used Palmolive dish soap when I`ve run out f shampoo. It does a really good job because it cleans the soap residue left on your hair from regular shampoos. I wouldn`t make a habit of it because it can dry out your hair but occasionally it`s even a good idea.

Yes, when travelling and in total desperation. Turns your hair into straw - don't try it unless you have to! Oh, and I had to use hand soap once in Hong Kong, where the water is so hard you can't get normal shampoo to lather properly.

    Antibacterial Hand soap???

I was at the store buying soap, and I found it was cheaper to by a bulk jug of Dial anibacterial handsoap that to buy antibacterial body wash. My friends came over to my house and saw the jug of Dial in the shower, because I was using it for body wash instead. They scolded me becuase they heard it was harmful to use antibacterial handsoap as body wash. I have checked the ingredients, and there really is no difference. There are no warnings against using the handsoap for your whole body, so why not???Antibacterial Hand soap???
you're right. you can use hand soap for you body. if you're body does get dry, then just use lotion. there's not really any difference but body wash might have a different scent or ingredient to make your skin softer.Antibacterial Hand soap???
Dial is good. I wouldn't worry.
I think your friends were refering to the fact that you are using antibacterial soap. It has been proven that not all bacteria is bad, and killing off the stuff that we need on our bodies to ward off infections and germs causes us to get sicker that we would have if we had just used soap.
technically it isn't harmful, but i could see it drying out your skin if it doesn't contain any moisturizers in it.

soap and water are better for you in the long term. hand sanitizer can not only dry out your skin but it also kills all the good bacteria your skin needs to be healthy causing many other skin probelms.

I always use hand sanitzer when out and about but when given the choice i'll always choose soap and water first.
    i use equally
    hand soap
Bar soap and water at home.

    Hand sanitizer on the run.
I use handsanitizer when im out and touch something disgusting. I use handsoap after I use the bathroom
    hand sanitizer!!

i like the way it smells!!

    i know weird right?
    hand soap and water
Soap, but I prefer HS cuz its faster.
I use soap and water if I can because hand sanitizer just doesn't seem to make my hands feel as clean.
soap, but when i cant get to soap and water hand sanitizer will work
I use hand soap more, plus it smells better. Santizer smell makes my head hurt, and most of them stink
i heard hand sanitizer doesn't just kill the bad germs, but the ';good'; germs as well.

so apparently it is really bad for you in the long run.

plus, it has been proven if you use it three or more times a day, for six or seven years, it can effect your health ? i think.

so soap and water for me . haha.
I had this therapist who had alchol swabs %26amp; hand sanitizers all over his desk.

I kind of made fun of him for his own mental problem. LOL
    hand soap and water,

hand sanitizer still makes my hands feel dirty.

even though it feels fresh from the start.

i love the scent, yea, but no, it feels like sticky afterwards.
Hand sanitizer so I dont eat my jerms at lunch lol. I always use it before lunch because you touch like lockers and ew everything!

Soap and warm water. Although when I'm out in public, I sanitize my hands like I was a germaphobe..lol. Big flu outbreak where I am.. ugh..
    Soap and water.

Regular old soap and water feels cleaner and doesn't burn any cuts on your hands like sanitizer does.
sanitizer. they have the best smells out now

Hand santizer is ok if you cant get to a sink but water and soap is the best

    Hand soap or liquid soap???????

which is better? why?Hand soap or liquid soap???????
liquid is more hygienic because it comes in a bottle or you can buy a refillable bottle unlike a bar of soap which gets touched by everyone and accumulates dirt and germsHand soap or liquid soap???????
    liquid, easier to use ^^
Liquid Soap - Smells nicer :)

    its fun
hand soap it lasts much longer i think
Liquid...not sure any is better than the other...I just like the liquid soap better....
Liquid soap. Hand soap needs to be washed after use otherwise it goes foamy. You try washing with foamy soap.
    I perfer Foam Soup!!!
liquid. so much better cause it foams up more and people cant get their dirty hands all over it like bar soap...yuck!
Liquid for sure. Because germs LOVE the hand soap.
Liquid soap!!! It is less messy and germ free!!!!
Liquid. Easier to use and germs, bacteria, dirt, etc don't linger on it like they do with bars.

Can i use regular hand soap to clean my guinea pig?

I wouldn't use soap on your piggy (using ordinary soap on your hair leaves a residue), better to use baby shampoo, the kind that doesn't sting the eyes. Soap would sting. Make sure you rinse it off well. Can i use regular hand soap to clean my guinea pig?
no, because it would remove the natural oils in the guinea pigs hair and possibly dry out the skin. that would be very uncomfortable for the guinea pig as well as being unsightly. use a cat/kitten shampoo or baby shampoo. the stuff they sell at pet stores is too expensive and isn't any different. Can i use regular hand soap to clean my guinea pig?
NEVER do that. it is bad for their skin. It will make it dry and itchy! will leave a grose filmy layer over your guinea pigs fur. It can cause skin irritation and if it gets their eyes can cause extreme damage. Never use regular soap. You need to get small animal shampoo from a pet store.
    Hello,

Yes it is very fine for you to do this. But at most local pet stores they have guinea pig soap. It works even better and is not harmful eaither.

    I hope i helped,

    Daniel
no because it will irritate his/her skin. but you can buy Special shampoo at a pet store to clean him/her
it depends is the hand soap mild or strong?

It may dry out you're piggies Skin,if its too strong

pet store small animal specialized shampoo

    is best,

    But

    Good luck!
of course u can, as long as u dont get the soap into the guinea pigs eyes, nose, mouth,or ears.
yes i have used that and even suave coconut shampoo and he did just fine.
no, hand soap is too strong for them. u need to go buy baby shampoo or guinea pig shampoo

I need formulae for liquid hand soap and dishwashing liquid that includes cocamidpropyl betaine.?

I presently use cocamide DEA in my dishwashing liquid I wish to revise this formula and use cocamidpropyl betaine instead.I need formulae for liquid hand soap and dishwashing liquid that includes cocamidpropyl betaine.?
Cocamide DEA has been replaced by Cocamidopropyl betaine (CAPB) in many commercial products. Although it is more expensive, it seems to have fewer skin irritant problems, but some still exist with some people, even at the 1% solution range.

You should be able to use the same formula with the single replacement (CAPB for CDEA). Molar quantities are not as important for their use as a surfactant.I need formulae for liquid hand soap and dishwashing liquid that includes cocamidpropyl betaine.?

Is there a hand soap with bleach in it to kill infection only killed by %bleach?

No, because bleach is cytotoxic and not meant to be put directly on your skin. Antibacterial soap and warm water and vigorous rubbing should kill any germs on your hands. Many germs can't live for long on the surface of your skin.

Bleach is only meant to kill germs on surfaces, for example if there is a blood spill on the floor you would clean it with a bleach product (but you would wear gloves while doing it to prevent the bleach from getting on your skin). Is there a hand soap with bleach in it to kill infection only killed by %bleach?
no, and not necessary...good handwashing even with regular soap is enough to remove any organisms

try it and don't put any lotion on and see if your skin feels extremely dry in a relatively short time. if it does feel dry, the ph is too high to use as a body soap and definitely way to high to use in your hair.Is it safe and healthy to wash the whole body with a hand-washing bar soap daily?

    SORRY =(

Is using hand sanitizer just as effective as soap and water?

I have this thing with germs and I constantly wash my hands...but the only soap we have is bar soap in the bathroom and dish liquid. I use the dish liquid to wash my hands. My hands are always cracked and in pain. My dad says it's the water and not the soap. He says that the water takes the oil from my hands...but I think it's the soap. Anyways is hand sanitizer just as or more effective than soap or water? And which is better for the skin?

Thank you.Is using hand sanitizer just as effective as soap and water?
Hand sanitizer is normally alcohol based which means that it can be fairly harsh on your skin, but it's also antibacterial. You can get moisturizing varieties (germ-X is). I also know that in food preparation areas you are meant to wash your hands with soap and water and then use hand sanitizer.

Also you could use liquid hand soap with moisturizers. I use this and it keeps my hands feeling soft but also clean. The dish soap will be too harsh on your skin, I have really sensitive skin on my hands and I can't wash the dishes without putting rubber gloves on otherwise my hands will crack like yours. Is using hand sanitizer just as effective as soap and water?
Hand sanitizer is meant to be used when handwashing isn't practical. Hand sanitizer is supposedly very effective agains germs, pretty much as effective as soap, however you do need to wash your skin on a regular basis as well. And your Dad is right that the water is making your hands dry, also the time of year the cold weather affects dry skin as well.
Well to answer your question, often hand sanitizer is actually more effective than soap at killing germs, however it is not intended for everyday use and can dry out your skin. Practically, why not try a moiturize? Palmers, E45 and Vaseline are all good, even for sensitive skin and cheap.

But deeper, why is it you have a fear of germs? Is it an OCD? And you might need help for this, as if its becoming an issue, you may have a problem.

Good luck, I hope this helps ;)
It is mostly the soap causing the skin irritation, and yes hand sanitizer is more effective in getting rid of germs. But excessive use of hand sanitizer can cause more problems.

AND to fix the dry/cracked skin trying applying lotion 2-3 times a day. Around the same time you would have meals.
hand sanitizer gets rid of 99.9% of bacteria, the only problem there is that is kills all the good bacteria that are on you hands. believe it or not, but you need some of those bacteria bc they are the ones fighting off the bad ones when you get a cut or something. DO NOT use hand sanitizer.
Well, I wouldn't replace soap and water with hand sanitizer. Because hand sanitizer is basically alcohol, which is bad for your skin. So you should probably purchase actual hand soap, and to fix your current problem with your hands, get some good moisturizer.
hand sanitizers (as used in hospitals) are made of weak alcohol, alcohol such as ethanol is very good at killing bacteria and other harmful microbes etc (hence why its used in hospitals and sometimes to clean wounds), water and soap is obviously cheaper but hand sanitizer will kill more bacteria
He is right. it is the water. Water takes all the oils and whatnot from your hands. Hand sanitizer is pretty effective just not effective as water.
hand sanitizer contains alcohol wich kills pretty much everything
sanitizer kills more germs, but it doesn't remove debris. Just use soap and water, then use some lotion.
    no.

    soap and water cleans,

    saniitizer sanitizes.

Whats more affective, hand sanitizer or soap?

I just need you'r opinion or if you want you can actully try to do this project.Whats more affective, hand sanitizer or soap?
Wait a minute, what do you mean by ';effective?'; Do you mean as effecitve cleaner or as effective sanitizer?

Soap is the more effective cleaner (removing dirt %26amp; grease)

Sanitizer is a generic term for a particular chemical contained in the soap which does the killing of bacteria.

Soap is a poor sanitizer, that is why the combination of the two are more effective at doing a total job rather then the use of either one.

There are hand sanitizers which have no soap in them and are to be used AFTER you use a commercial soap.Whats more affective, hand sanitizer or soap?
hand sanitizer seems to be the better choice
hand sanitizer because alcohol kills 99.9 percent of germs
Actually the only effective way is warm soap water and the hand sanitizer together. I have been working in the health care field for 6 years and have went through many tests and classes on the difference between the two. The method that got rid of the most germs was the soap water and hand sanitizer method. Although both are effective, hand sanitizer really only works if you use alot of friction which most people forget to do and hand sanitizer is meant to be used as a temporary solution. You should wash your hands after you use the sanitizer 4-5 times, and remember when washing your hands use a lot of friction also and sing the classic ABC song!
Sanitizer get rid of 99.99% of germs, I don't think soap does...

    Sanitizer works better!
    soap
They SAY it gets rid of 99% of bacteria, seems strange, I mean, if they can get it so close, why can't it be 100%? Scrubbing and washing your hands with hot/warm water just seems more hygenic than covering them with greasy liquid.
I am pretty sure hand sanitizer is more affective then soap. Soap does not get rid of all of the germs, but hand sanitizer gets rid of 99% of germs.
Hand sanitizers reflect advanced cleaning with effective surfactants and proven added components to kill germs and viruses. There are sanitizers that are ';green'; and therefore they are easy on the environment.

What kind of dish soap is best to use when you have to hand wash all your dishes?

I don't have a dish washer so i have to hand wash all my dishes. What kind of soap is the best to use to kill germs and to disenfect? What kind of dish soap is best to use when you have to hand wash all your dishes?
The kind I use is Dawn dish soap. It has degreaser's in it, and you can get it in different scents, sizes, etc. As well as antibacterial.

One note on the antibacterial soaps-that part of the soap only works on your skin, not on the dishes.

I like to soak my dishes in a dishpan full of hot tap water with dawn dish soap for a few minutes before I start washing them. It helps to prerinse the dishes first, too.

Take care. What kind of dish soap is best to use when you have to hand wash all your dishes?
Any of them will clean your dishes but the cheaper brands tend to lose suds faster than name brands. That's my experience anyway. My personal favorite is Dawn.
I like Dawn w/bleach. The bleach is already added to the dish water.
I use dawn, because its gets the job done! LOL

Sometimes I put a little bleach in my water if I'm dealing with dishes that had meat on them, but you can already buy dish soap with bleach in it, so you don't have to do that.

I wouldn't suggest palmolive dish soap due to it making your rag and water slimy...its really gross.
Dish soap ? Here in the UK we use dish washing liquid every supermarket has about 20 brands to choose from, and most are labelled to kill germs and are disinfectant too.
All soap with hot water does that. Get gloves and make sure the water is HOT. Use any brand that smells good to you. I have to hand wash right now and I use Ivory Dish Soap.
Anything with lemon and tough on grease.
I use an organic dish washing liquid that not only cleans and disinfects but is also bio degradable. The brand i use in RSA is enchantrix which is obtainable from health shops. Just a note, SOAP SUDS dont clean. A chemical is added afterwards to make the soap suds. The technique and experience is slightly different when using an organic dish washing liquid. You have to apply the liquid to your sponge for every 2nd or third item you clean and just knowing that you are using a product thats good for the enviroment and hasnt been tested on animals is a good feeling.
    Definitely Dawn!
Palmolive...cleans your dishes really good and is easy on your hands.

If you would rinse your hands really good after washing dishes, dry them really good, and use a good lotion on your hands that will help too.

    hope this helps you.
I use Dishdrops they really fill a sink good with suds and have worked very well with disinfecting. I get them sent to me from this online source.
I use Ajax or Palmolive they work well and smell good. I also use dish washing gloves so i can use really hot water and i don't get prune hands. There are some dish soaps that have bleach alternatives or oxygen that are said to clean better but i just use the regular soap.
i use dawn when i am not using my dishwasher i love it.cleans the dishes very well gets all the greese of all the pans might cost alittle extra but you get what you pay for i always believed that.
Save your money and buy a dishwasher.

  • What are the Pros and Cons of using foaming hand soap?

~as opposed to the usual pump hand soap or even bar soap to wash your hands?

    Just wondering.

~m.b.What are the Pros and Cons of using foaming hand soap?
I like to feel my soap and I don't think that happens with foam. The pro would be it looks interesting coming out of the pump. I use the usual pump and I can't remember the last time I washed my hands with a bar of soap.

    (((HUGS)))

Happy Sunday! What are the Pros and Cons of using foaming hand soap?
When I used it for the first time and I thought for a second the dispenser was empty. I would rather use bar soap. I try not to use anti- bacterial hand soaps . The active ingredients kill helpful bacteria in your drains. Then they clog up faster because the bacteria that helps chew up hair and soap are gone..

Is it ok to use hand soap on your tattoo?

i know your supposed to use anitbacterial soap but i dont have any except my hand soap... is that ok? or should i just use dove?

    thanks

*kisses*Is it ok to use hand soap on your tattoo?
hand soap usually has dyes and fragrances...so NO...Dove dries the skin out.

Go buy some Dial Antibacterial Hand Soap(its a liquid)...and you should be ok...you can even get the no name brand from Walmart that is the equal to Dial...and it's cheaper.

Look at my answer to your other question or any of my answers to questions like this.

Fact is...if youre not sure...call the shop.

And think about it...Dove does dry out the skin...Also...look up the A%26amp;D thing...plenty of information for it...but also just as much against it. The 2 things you want to achieve...keep it clean...and keep it moist. Everything works for different people...and regardless everyone on here is going to swear what works for them...either way, instead of get more confused...call the shop ya got the ink...Just like everyone on here...Im giving you my experience from the 35 hours plus of ink I have...and it was an evolving process to learn what to use and what not too...I do wish you the best and hope you enjoy your new ink!

Best of Luck!Is it ok to use hand soap on your tattoo?
Only if it's unscented. You should really get yourself to a drugstore ASAP to buy some Dial or some equivalent. Antibacterial is a necessity to keep your tattoo clean. So maybe clean your tattoo once or so with the other stuff, until you can get to a store, but don't rely on it.
i would dove because it's hypoallergenic which means there are no perfumes ..i just used regular hand soap to and it's fine!! I just got one on my foot 2 days ago and my foot is so swollen ..took over an hour and I thought I was going to die lol the pain is worth it though, eh?
use dial (orange one) or ivory

    clean 3 times a day

    use a%26amp;d ointment 3 x day for 5-7 days

then switch to fragrance free lubriderm

    best of luck!
The last place I got mine told me to use a gentle scent free soap. I used dove and it turned out fine.

Why does bar hand soap crack or get dirty ridges in it?

it cracks when it gets dry, %26amp; the ridges are dirty cuz some of the oil %26amp; ect. from your hands gets trapped in there. Its really grose, but doesn't effect how well it works. Why does bar hand soap crack or get dirty ridges in it?
cause its not used often. Why does bar hand soap crack or get dirty ridges in it?
    It is drying out.
It goes like that when its not used

So you now know that regulars in that bar never wash there hands

    YUK
Buy Dove brand, and you won't find this happening.
maybe because a pub is a very used place which many people happen to use the bathroom after a pint or two and with the bar and other things to look after the landlady/lord may not always remeber to change the soap!!!
because of lack of use and it is drying out
Soap dries out fairly quickly (well the cheap bars do) and the reason there are dirty ridges is, that the user is fairly lax in the use of the soap and does not lather up properly.
    its dray

Is liquid soap better than bar soap..If yes which liquid hand wash brand is good to use and why?

Yes. Liquid soap is better since the required amount of soap can be dispensed. Bar soaps are used by different persons so the chances of contamination are greater.

Dettol Liquid Soap and Lifebuoy are good reliable brands. Is liquid soap better than bar soap..If yes which liquid hand wash brand is good to use and why?
The days of choosing between a few name brand soaps are in the past. We have thousands of choices for the tub, shower and sink. Peppermint bar soap, strawberry liquid soap, rose-shaped soaps, odor-free soap and soap-on-a-rope give only a hint of the available selections. A heated debate has surfaced, pitching the more traditional bar soap against the more modern feel of liquid soap. Here are some tips to help you decide how to scrub-a-dub-dub in the tub-tub-tub.

    INSTRUCTIONS

Step 1 Understand that liquid and bar soaps carry the same health benefits. Conscientious personal hygiene can be carried out successfully using either form of cleanser.

Step 2 Identify if an odor-free or odor-neutral soap is important to you. Soaps with heavy scents usually have additives that can potentially reduce the positive effects of cleansing. Bar soaps tend to offer more varieties of odor-free soap than their liquid counterparts.

Step 3 Know that because bar soap is often left in moisture, small amounts of bacteria growth can occur. This is not to alarm you. Scientists have only been able to find very small amounts. However, liquid soap is usually pumped straight from the container, which protects the cleanser from sitting in water or being used by multiple people.

Step 4 Determine if wasting less is important to you. You waste less with bar soap. Liquid soap is used faster because people misjudge the amount coming out of the container or place large globs on their washcloth or scrubber. Bar soap can be spread out to last for weeks. On the other hand, if you continually run water over bar soap, it will wear down just as fast or faster than liquid.

Step 5 Consider that liquid soap is generally accompanied by a cloth, which can grow mold if not dried properly. A dirty washcloth cancels out the benefits of liquid soap. If you frequently forget to hang things to dry, you are better off with bar soap.

Step 6 Measure the level of exfoliation you are getting with your soap. Soap acts as an exfoliant by helping to release skin cells, debris and excess dirt from the surface of your skin. Bar soap exfoliates well because you are usually rubbing the soap directly against your body. This can also be true with liquid soap if you pair it with a cloth or scrubber or it contains micro-scrubbers within the liquid. Test both kinds to see which exfoliates better for you.

I guess dettol is a nice liquid and bar soap. Rest you can decide yourself. Is liquid soap better than bar soap..If yes which liquid hand wash brand is good to use and why?
Liquid soap is definitely better than the bar soap. It's more healthy and safer. That's why I always prefer it over bar soap. Since the past 7-8 months, I have been using Lifebuoy hand wash bcoz of its nice and gentle fragrance and obviously the germ protection it provides with neem and tulsi. Moreover, its economical than some other brands. I have also used Detol handwash and Palmolive handwash in the past. Detol was also good, however, it has a very strong fragrance that remains in your hands even long after you wash ur hands. So, I discontinued using it.
Liquid soap is better than bar soap, because bar soap gathers more bacteria on it. All liquid hand washes are generally the same, but hand washes like Dove cater more towards people with dry hands, while Dial soaps have a variety of scents. Hope that answered your question! Stay clean =]

liquid soaps are usually just detergents made from petroleum by products. Bar soap is usually made from grease. I often found liquid soaps are too drying, like dish washing detergents. Some bar soaps are moisturizing to the skin.

Liquid soaps are more convenient. Bar soaps are more messy which they are wet. I think bar soaps are better.
liquid soap is of course better than bar soap, this is because each drop that u use is pure in the sense that its not been touched before. bar soaps on the other hand may be left with germs from the previous usage. DETTOL liquid soap is the best one to go with.
Yes it is better then bar soap. Dettol because it is good in quality then other brands.
I prefer bar soap because I tend to waste less using bar soap.

How many germs does a normal bar of soap kill compared to hand sanitizer?

Just curious xDHow many germs does a normal bar of soap kill compared to hand sanitizer?
Hand sanitizer, which is usually at least 65% alcohol, kills 99% of germs. The alcohol instantly saps the bacteria of water, so they're unable to survive in that environment. Hand soap can vary depending on its contents and how thoroughly you wash your hands. Mostly, it just acts as a lubricant to get things off your skin (dirt, dead skin, etc) and cuts grease because it's made with a base chemical. How many germs does a normal bar of soap kill compared to hand sanitizer?
Normal soap thats not antibacterial soap doesnt even kill germs, it just makes them slide off. This can be better than antibacterial soap however because bacteria can adapt and survive it (unless all the alcohol does the killing). Hand sanitizer would be better with the alcohol
Bar soap doesn't get rid of germs, they are loaded with germs! So sanitizer kills way more then te bar soap. The reason why bar soap is loaded with germs is because say someone is going to wash their hands, right nd their hands are loaded with harmful germs and they touch the soap and then put it back then the next person goes to wash their hands and their coating their hands in the harmful germs the other person had on their hands and then adventually the person will get sick. GO SANITIZER! Hope this helped ^^!

  • After you hand wash silverware, how much soap do you put in? Is it supposed to taste like soap??

Because I'm having this problem that happened just today while in my dorm. It was gross. After you hand wash silverware, how much soap do you put in? Is it supposed to taste like soap??
Nothing you eat with is supposed to taste like soap no matter how much was used during the washing step.. Someone may have forgotten the ';supposed to rinse after washing'; step. After you hand wash silverware, how much soap do you put in? Is it supposed to taste like soap??
Just a little squirt per sinkful of water %26amp; rinse, rinse, rinse w/clean water.
If you are using a two galen sink or tub, don't use more than a tea spoon of liquid soap. Then reins the dishes in a equal size tub with no soap just water. The soap residue can and will give you the runs. Sins your dishes tasted like soap let me leave with this Thoth. Happy pooping.
you know those little dessert spoons that come with almost any flatware/silverware set? You can fill up one of those spoons with soap and then wash the silverware---and then rinse it well with clear hot water...

A posh resort's hand soap had small bits of brown material embedded in it. What was it & what's the purpose?

The material was similar to tiny bits of wood. Is it just a gimmick, or is their some authentic benefit from these bits.A posh resort's hand soap had small bits of brown material embedded in it. What was it %26amp; what's the purpose?
probably smashed walnut shells. its used as a pumice to remove dead skin as it's more abrasiveA posh resort's hand soap had small bits of brown material embedded in it. What was it %26amp; what's the purpose?
well it could be lemon grass or it could be oats, it could be a lot of things, sometimes they are beneficial, sometimes just for looks.
It depends on what those bits actually are. They could be there as a ';sloughing'; agent or just for their escential oils.

If they are Camomile stems, they're there to sooth your skin.

If they're Sandle Wood bits, they're there for scent.

If they're bits of loofah they're there to help exfoliate.

It all depends on what those ';bits'; are.
I suppose it's some form of herb that was used to scent the soap. But then again the entire cake of soap could be made out of sawdust b/c they can get it for free at the kiddie's playground.
It could've been for exfoliation. Some manufacturers put it in to slosh your hands of dead skin. I suggest you go to the website of the maker and ask for ingredients.
