If you use it in the dishwasher you will overflow the machine and end up mopping bubbles and water for a half hour! The dishwasher detergent is designed to be non-foaming. That's why if you put it into the sink, it makes your water soapy but not foamy. However, liquid dishwashing soap for handwashing, will foam to activate and ';coat'; dishes. When used in a dishwasher, the high pressure of the jets causes too much foaming, and can lead to you having to use a week's worth of towel to mop your floor.
